The NEW AGE of ART

Art has changed over the years for the Zhou dynasty. Now, bronze has been replaced by clay, because it is easier to find, cheaper to buy, and easier to make art with. Although bronze is no longer commonly used in art, they still make art with it for burials and deaths of family members, as long as the family can afford it. Not only is clay taking place of bronze, but a stone known as jade is also flourishing very well. Jade is used to make statues and other monuments.

Bronze still has a use in The Zhou dynasty. Instead of making art with it, they will still make weapons and armour. Bronze is the cheapest ore you can buy, and also one of the strongest that you can use to make armour and weaponry.

The Zhou now uses clay to make pottery, sculptures, bowls, and other things. You can also paint clay which is mainly what gives the clay its artistic traits. Clay is found in lakes. It is made from a combination of mud and water. The clay is found in a liquidy form, which is when sculptures use it so that it can be formed into any shape they wish. Once the clay is left to try, it will harden. After it hardens you can paint the clay.

NOT a GOOD MOVE

The Zhou Dynasty should have not gone into war with the Shang dynasty, mainly because they would have been good allies. The Zhou dynasty did not need to expand their land much, and conquer more land makes it so you have heavier responsibilities in the future when you have to defend the region. But so far the Zhou dynasty seems to be doing just fine with these extra responsiblities.

The Zhou dynasty has become a very powerful dynasty, but also a very greedy one. Although their interests are for the good of the people, they are making many enemies in the process. It was a good idea to divide the power with there allies during the war; this will make it so there is a smaller chance that the friendly dynasties will rebel for more power.

Overall the Zhou dynasties victory was a key step in the rise of there dynasty. Although Zhou and Shang would have been good allies, the weak should be destroyed and the strong should flourish.

ZHOU DYNASTY IGNITES a WAR

Yesterday the war finally ended between the Zhou Dynasty and the Shang Dynasty. This Is how it began. The Shang dynasty was threatened by The Zhou Dynasty, which ignited an all out war between the two dynasties. The reason for this war was because the emperor of the Zhou Dynasty noticed that The Shang Dynasty was preoccupied fighting another war with tribal people to the southeast, so the Emperor of the Zhou dynasty new that this would be the best time to attack and expand there land.

The Zhou Dynasty soon overpowered and crushed the Shang Dynasty, as well as beheaded Emperor Zhouxin of the Shang Dynasty. Now a large number of Zhou Emperors rule what was Shang Civilization for themselves. They have claimed that all land belongs to heaven, as well as that they were the sons of heaven, so therefore all land and people will now be known as their subjects.

The Zhou dynasty has divided there land into organized regions; assigning someone to rule each region in their name, decided by if they were a close family member, or a trusted member of their clan, or a chief of a tribe that allied with them during the war. The responsibilities of each Region leader were similar to the emperors responsibilities.

Now each ruler has at there disposal, all the lands they were assigned to, and his own Militia fighting force. They also received gifts like, chariots, bronze weapons, and servants and animals. The rulers received the title of lord, or “gong” in Chinese culture. Control there area better, the lords assigned sublords to maintain a stable rule of there region.

The Zhou emperors also told those they reigned over, that they had ousted the Shang emperors from heaven and that heaven was occupied by the Zhou’s supreme god, a god the Zhou called “The Lord on High” who they had said ordered the fall of the Shang Dynasty.
